New defibrillators installed at Epwin

Epwin Window Systems has installed 4 new AED defibrillators across its Telford sites. Evidence suggests that where AEDs have been used, the outcomes are far more favourable for an individual who suffers from a heart attack than if it is delayed until the arrival of the emergency services.

The Zoll AED Plus is an automated external defibrillator that uses voice prompts and visual indicators to guide the rescuer through a resuscitation sequence that may include defibrillation and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The Resuscitation Council UK guidance on AEDs is that this equipment is safe to use and can be readily used by untrained bystanders, however, the decision has been made that only trained first aiders should use an AED in our workplace.

While only trained first aiders will use an AED, all Epwin personnel MUST be aware of the location of the AED in their own workplace so they are able to fetch the AED in an emergency situation (if required to do so).

The new defibrillators are located:

• Telford Manufacturing: In Factory 1 meeting room (goldfish bowl)
• Finishing Plant / Aluminium: In the Foiling entrance area by the temperature reader
• Epwin Distribution Centre: In reception
• Epwin Administration: In reception
