Absence Stage Management
The purpose of Stage Management process is to ensure you are applying the organisation absence process consistently, but also to support you with your decision when dealing with employees’ absence to ensure the right level of outcome is issued in order to manage an employee’s persistent absence.
You will be aware we currently have absence triggers of 3 absences in 3 months and 4 absences in 12 months, set out in our Absence Control Policy and Epwin Absence Management System to help you to escalate employees through the absence policy.
When an employee hits a potential absence policy trigger going forward, you will receive the trigger notification informing you need to take some form of action in line with the organisations Absence Policy.
This will initially start with a return to work interview, in which you will discuss the reason for the absence and establish what support, if any, the company can offer or to explain their absence levels need to improve.
If a more formal meeting is required to discuss the absence in more detail and any relevant historic absence which should then be taken into consideration to establish if a warning for poor attendance should be issued and this is where Stage Management will support you.
The new Stage Management process requires you to record if a meeting took place for this trigger. If no, record the reason why a meeting didn’t take place, and HR may want to follow this up with you. If yes, then please record the date the meeting took place and the action taken and either add your meeting notes into the system or upload the meeting notes via the attachment function.
Please note for certain stages you will be asked to answer some questions which appear on the screen, which are in line with the organisation absence policy.
HR will be monitoring actions taken in line with the absence policy and will offer support when required.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the HR Team on 01952 283380 or email at personnel@epwin.co.uk.
