Health & Safety Policy

Introduction

The Company recognises that it has a responsibility to ensure, so far as practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all employees and others who may be affected by its activities.

Policy objectives

The health and safety of employees as well as members of the public is of great importance to the successful management and operation of the Company. The Company operates to a policy of zero accident involvement in the workplace which also extends to areas of operation beyond Company premises and includes vehicles operated on the public highway.

In securing the implementation of this policy, Epwin Group Plc will ensure, in so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • Provision is made for the maintenance of plant and systems of work that are safe and without risk to health
  • Provision is made for ensuring the safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the manufacture, supply, use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances, all premises and places of work are safe and without risk to health, including the provision and maintenance of access to and egress from such places
  • Provision is made for the maintenance of a working environment that is safe, without risk to health, and adequate as regards facilities and arrangements for welfare at work
  • Provision is made for the communication of health and safety information, health and safety training, adequate supervision and such consultation as may be required
  • In order to assist the Company in meeting this responsibility and in order to promote and ensure your welfare and other employees (as well as members of the public) the Company must rely upon each employee to adopt and maintain
  • a responsible attitude in regard to themselves and the wellbeing of others.
  • Although the following list is not intended to be exhaustive, all employees have the following responsibilities:
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety
  • Take reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of others who may be affected by your acts
  • To cooperate with the Company to enable it to comply with statutory duties and other requirements
  • Not to interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health and safety
  • To correctly use and look after any personal protective equipment provided
  • To report any incidents that have led, or could lead, to accident or injury at the earliest opportunity
  • To assist in the investigation of accidents with the objective of preventing recurrence
  • To adhere to all health and safety notices, safety training, works instructions and other requirements
  • To avoid the wearing of any clothing, footwear, jewellery, or long hair, that could pose a risk to health and safety
  • To operate any Company vehicle in a safe and efficient manner and in line with all road traffic laws and Company regulations
  • To co-operate with any accident investigation at all times, irrespective of attendance at work or absence
  • Failure to co-operate with accident investigations may lead to disciplinary action

Breach of any of these rules will be dealt with under the Disciplinary Procedure, and serious cases will be classed as gross misconduct.

Local managers will ensure that the management, organisation and arrangements for health and safety detailed in the

Policy are applied to suit the identified needs in the business/ department/location concerned, and that employees are made aware of Health & Safety issues as may be required within the terms of this Policy and the ‘Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999’.
